How to Effectively Work on Your Double Unders in the WOD

Hi Everyone.  It only seems fair that I should offer some strategy for getting double unders into your workout without taking 2 hours to complete the workout.

Here are three ideas.  I have used all of these as I moved from hopeless to competent - well competent some of the time anyway.  Remember that double unders are a skill and require some perseverance in order to master them.  Get some help with them.  Have someone watch you. Maybe you are turning the rope too fast and missing the triple under, not the double under.

#1  Do them whether you make them or not.  Count the attempt
if you miss.  Try to keep track of how many you made vs how
many attempts.  It helps to see your progress if you can do
      that.

#2  Try skipping three times, doing one double under and
stopping on purpose.  Your feet don't get tangled in the
rope and if the scale is X3 it will count as 2. Count the
double under attempt if you miss.  When you get better at
them, only count the good ones.

#3  Maybe you can skip 3 times, double under, skip 3 time,
double under...........If you can, the counting's the same as #2
only faster.  Work towards fewer skips in between, then
      stringing them together.

Whatever you do to get double unders into your work out, when you are making more than you miss, start only counting the good ones-more pressure to do a good one- even if they are one at a time.  It will be a bit slower at first, but not for long, and you will have the satisfaction of conquering them.  You will have good double under days and bad ones, just keep on doing them and you will keep making progress.  I know you can do it!
