Crossfit Games

HI everyone.  The  Crossfit Open is over and so is In-House Open Competition.  Thank you everyone who participated.

 Crossfit Open.

This year Crossfit took the Sectionals on line.  The participation figures are huge.  Looking at the leaderboard,  13421 men and 7146 women, plus 959 men and 632 women in the various masters divisions were competing worldwide.

Congratulations to Travis Takasaki who finished in 1523rd place in the world and 57th place in the region to qualify to compete at regionals next weekend.  Other members who were part of the on-line event are Jason Jenkins, Tara Granberg, Bill Kennedy, Josh Fagan, Louise Buchanan, Suzi Baxter, Marty Steen, Dave Warbeck and Stephanie Needham.  Jason and Stephanie also stayed in the competition Rx for all 6 WODs.  Jason finished 2135th overall and 79th in the region while Stephanie finished 43rd overall in the Women’s 50 – 54 age group.

Check the games website to see all the results from the Open.  http://games.crossfit.com/

There are also lots of interesting articles and videos.

This was a new way for the Crossfit Games to hold Sectionals, and despite initial problems with the online reporting system, it worked and was a fun way for anyone at any level to participate.  Hopefully we can have more participants from our box next year.

In-House Open

The In-House Open was great.  A total of 63 members did at least one of the WODs.  Travis, Jason, Stephanie and Tara did them all prescribed.  Louise, Suzi, Nate D and Paul Ash performed all six WODs, some Rx and some scaled.  Marty, Bill and Frank did five and Lucio, Josh, Olen and Chuckie did four.  All the results are posted on the rolling board.  Check them out!

Prizes were awarded to the top male and female who completed the WODs Rx and to the top male and female who completed the WODs Rx or scaled.  Jason and Travis were tied in the overall competition so we had to evaluate them head to head and Travis had a total of eight points to Jason’s ten, to take the top spot.  Tara and Stephanie were also neck and neck until Tara got hurt which gave Stephanie the chance to take top spot.  For the Rx and scaled Nate and Louise took the honours.  Thanks to Popeye’s for their generosity in supplying prizes!

All the other participant were entered in  a random draw for prizes from Paleo People and Back to Back.  Entries were created by the number of WODs participated in.  The winners are posted on the What’s Happening” board and should see Stephanie to pick up their prize.
