The MOMAR - A Report by Tara Granberg

Our intrepid CVI athletes ventured to the Mind Over Mountain Adventure Race this weekend.   Here is what Tara had to say about it.............................

MOMAR was one of the craziest, funnest and hardest things I have ever done. It started with a kayak on Comox lake, then we transitioned to trekking/running/mountain climbing :):) I learned very quickly that the shortest route is not the easiest (I think we climbed the same hills three times, on different trails) On e we completed that leg of the race it was on to mountain biking. Stress the word MOUNTAIN!!! What a blast once you were able to actually ride your bike. Lots of fantastic trails that I would love to do again. From there we moved on to orienteering. I can't tell you much about that stage as we were completely mentally and physically exhausted and tried to skip it. We had 30 min left until cutoff time and thought we might get lost as we had no experience in this field, but the race director encouraged us to get a least a few done and even helped us out with the map. They made the "newbies" feel at ease right from the start. Explaining exactly what to do and to have fun. No worries there, we had lots of laughs along the way. Then home to shower and off to the banquet and after party. Dinner was good and the after party, well you know how the saying goes ...what happens on the mountain stays on the mountain. You will have to come to find out :):). Definitely a test of mental and physical endurance. I can't wait to do it again next year. Wanna come?
